My bike is approaching the first milestone of 1000km. Time to schedule my first regular service appointment. But the way to it was quirky.
Could I imagine a few years ago that I'd get my A license in the Netherlands? No. I tried it back in Russia but my boss said definitely No (too dangerous in Moscow due to crazy traffic and low moto culture, she said).
Then I landed in the Netherlands for international working experience, planned for 3 years but the curve of fate changed the plans. Helping Ukrainian refugees to get settled in the shelter I met new friends including a Russian biker. He was awaiting his new Multistrada to be landed in his garage in a few weeks. And btw, he said, there is a motoschool in Hilversum close by. This was a trigger. It reignited my old dream.
My boss was convinced it's much safer here, so I got a permit and sent a message to Jon. Then there were several months of practicing. Theory did self (25 years of car driving helps). Cones exercises - love it. Especially 8 and U-turn. Then traffic - many missed turns - sorry Jon it was a bit tough for my ???? to think of a bike, embrace traffic signs, marks and listen in non native language (even my English is not so bad). Also GPS navigators - they help in regular life but make a brain a bit lazy. Looks like a clunky excuse for missed turns ???? (I know it ????).
Anyway, the traffic exam was passed too. Big thx to Jon for being patient, constructive and helping me to reach the goal. Now I'm approaching the first thousand km on my GS1300 and looking forward to more miles and the upcoming season (already building plans for a few long weekends in May).
